COUTTS Collection is an intimate tribute to the impact of Nicholas Coutts’ as a friend and peer. Through seeking the blessing of Nicholas’s family, Lukhanyo Mdingi designed this collection as a means to honour the legacy of Nicholas Coutts’ as one of the most important designers in recent history. Lukhanyo learned Nicholas’ unique approach to weaving through his mother, Lindsay Coutts.

Evoking the spirit of Nicholas’ distinct weaving technique and bold approach to colour, the collection remains decidedly integrated through the label’s own sartorial language. The woven pieces in the COUTTS Collection showcase the continuation of a relationship between Nicholas and the women at Philani in Khayelitsha. Bright crimson, orange blossom and camel shades are tempered with sapphire and violet textural weaves; an homage to life and love.
