TACTILE is a collaborative collection between Lukhanyo Mdingi and the late Nicholas Coutts. Through their shared practice of design, TACTILE is living testimony to their co-creative relationship built upon friendship and ever-lasting respect.

The collection expertly marries the strengths of both designers; bound by Lukhanyo’s curatorial considerations and muted tonality with Nicholas’ distinguished weaving techniques. Focused on a colour palette that is referential to the earth; shades of rust, ochre, pine and soil illustrate the African roots of both designers; the place of their relationship and respective individuation. 

TACTILE is a story about the essential feature of collaboration, craft and connection inherent within the Lukhanyo Mdingi label; the story of design as a vehicle for human ingenuity.
